State of the City

Ontario Leaders Will Focus on Creating Jobs at Annual Event

Once a year, Ontario brings city leaders, business owners and residents under one roof for the “State of the City” presentation, with this year’s focus on city efforts to support business and create jobs.

The annual public event will be at the Ontario Convention Center at 5 p.m. on March 20.

“Our State of the City is attended by nearly 1,000 community and business leaders that all have an interest in learning about future growth opportunities within the City of Ontario,” Mayor Paul S. Leon said.

“Attendees leave with a clear understanding of Ontario’s core competencies and plans to support business success and job growth.”

The theme of this year’s State of the City is “Focused,” and the city council will discuss how it applies the theme toward jobs, service and the future of Ontario.

Speakers will join city council members and discuss Ontario’s alignment with trends in business and job growth.

The three guest speakers will be Steve Strauss, author of the “Small Business Bible” and the country’s leading small business

expert; Ann Rhoades, author of “Built on Values,” one of the founders of Jet Blue Airlines and president of People Ink; and Greg Lindsay, author of “Aerotropolis: The Way We’ll Live Next” and a two-time Jeopardy! Champion.

Following the main program, attendees can network with the region’s business leaders and city council members.

“Our State of the City is unlike any other event offered in Southern California and promises to be an excellent opportunity for interaction with our City Council and business leaders,” said Leon.

“Additionally, you will hear firsthand about our campaign for local control of Ontario International Airport and receive the latest campaign updates.”

The three-hour event will begin at 5 p.m. with registration and pre-event networking. At 6 p.m., the State of the City Program begins, followed by a networking form at 7 p.m..

Registration is $50 after March 1. For registration information, available event sponsorships, or to view a video about this year’s event, please visit www.OntarioSOC2013. com or call 909-395-2081.
