Glendora’s latest nationally registered historic site, the Rubel Castle, is now open for more tours. Visitors won’t want to miss the famous Tin Palace which, thanks to curator Patricia Sullivan and her dedicated volunteers, shines almost as brightly as it did back during Dorothy Rubel’s reign. Guests will also want to visit the Bennett Room, a multimedia area where visitors can catch a glimpse of Michael Rubel being interviewed by a very young Huell Howser. There are endless treasures to be discovered, or re-discovered, around every rock tower. Check tour availability by going to the Glendora Historical Society website at glendorahistoricalsociety.org and clicking on the castle link to request a tour. The Glendora Historical Society offers six castle tour dates each month, including some weekends. A special tour date can be set up for groups of 12 or more. Tours fill up quickly and dates are subject to change based on availability of volunteer docents. All guests must have the stamina to walk, stand and navigate uneven surfaces for at least 90 minutes and children must be at least 8 years old to visit. A donation of $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 8 to 12 is appreciated. The Glendora Historical Society is a 501c3 nonprofit organization. For more information, visit the website, call 626-963-0419 or visit the museum at 314 N. Glendora Ave. It is open from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. most Saturdays. See also
