More than 1,300 people attended the Inland Empire’s largest Earth Day and Open House recently at the Frontier Project in Rancho Cucamonga.

The event, hosted by Cucamonga Valley Water District and the Frontier Project Foundation, offered attendees a wide span of resources and engaging activities, including 80 vendors and booths, from solar panel companies to community groups to kids’ activities.

Event highlights included landscape workshops, performances by famed environmental magician Paul Cash and document shredding, as well the master of ceremonies Joel Greene, creator, producer and host of PBS’s “Curiosity Quest.”

“I come here every year,” said David Crickon. “I’ve learned so much – like take shorter showers and install energysaving light bulbs.”

The event included an open house of the Cucamonga Valley Water District, where guests observed first-hand the cutting-edge work conducted by the water district staff.

At the water maintenance division demonstration, attendees learned how to detect leaks at their homes and how to shut off their water valve in case of a leak or emergency.

“CVWD thanks everyone who joined us to celebrate Earth Day and to learn how the everyday decisions we make in life affect our environment,” said CVWD Board President Oscar Gonzalez.
