Edison relative to speak at Ontario Heritage meeting

The Ontario Heritage second quarter and general meeting and potluck will be held at 4 p.m., Saturday, April 26, at the Corbett’s 1937 historic home and museum in Ontario.

The meeting will include a special presentation of Thomas Edison’s history, narrated by his relative, Steve Corbett, who has kept his inventions and family history alive.

The group will provide water bottles and coffee for the potluck. Guests are asked to bring a main dish, side dish, salad or dessert.

10th annual Blind Buddies Golf Challenge set for April 26 at Empire Lakes

Cucamonga District Host Lions Club will hold its 10th Annual Blind Buddies Golf Challenge on Saturday, April 26, at Empire Lakes Golf Course.

The golf clinic is free for anyone blind or vision-impaired. Partici pants must be able to walk 200 yards. All participants must wear a collared shirt. No T-shirts or jeans.

Each participant will have the opportunity to learn basic fundamentals of putting, chipping and hitting balls on the driving range with instruction by PGA Golf Professional Mike Marcum.

There will be a Closestto-the-Hole contest at the chipping and putting areas. Volunteers will be on hand to assist and provide instructions to each participant. Volunteers are needed. Those interested should call Nancy High at 909-731-1722.

Golfer check-in will be held from 9 to 9:30 a.m., and the clinic will begin at 9:30 a.m. Lunch and trophies will be provided at the conclusion of the event.

Chipping, putting and driving range sponsorships are available at $100 each. In addition to the Cucamonga District Host Lions, the event is supported by the United States Golf Association and the First Swing.
