The Los Angeles indie/ folk quintet, The Wild Reeds, will kick off the Levitt on the Lawn Concert series June 25 at Scripps College.

The self-described “harmony-driven indie folk” group has been compared to Fleet Foxes, Jenny Lewis and Fleetwood Mac.

The event is open to the public and will begin at 6 p.m. at the Scripps Bowling Green Lawn on campus, 1030 Columbia Ave., Claremont. The performance is set for  6:30 p.m. Visitors can bring their own food, and be available for purchase through vendors and food trucks.

Free concert series This marks the 23rd Levitt on The Lawn performance at the Scripps College campus, a free concert series presented by Pasadena’s Levitt Pavilion for the Performing Arts. The on-campus series is the brainchild of alumna Elizabeth Levitt Hirsch, whose family is behind the Levitt Pavilion, said Karen Fagan, Scripps director of public events.

“The Levitt Pavilion is committed to building community by turning outdoor spaces into centers of music and com munity engagement,” Fagan said. “And since Scripps is also about community engagement, and since it has a beautiful campus, we thought it would be a great idea to hold Levitt concerts here as well.”
