The San Dimas Parks and Recreation Department recently hosted the Saturday Stroll, a neighborhood walk and educational presentation sponsored by San Dimas Community Hospital.

The Saturday Stroll is a part of the city’s Stay Fit San Dimas campaign, which provides opportunities to help people live healthier lives.

Walking is the simplest form of exercise and is a great way to stay active, organizers said.

The stroll started and ended at the Walker House in San Dimas. It included a two-mile walk with a stop at the senior center for a healthy breakfast and an educational seminar on the benefits of plant-based di ets, presented by Maryanna Stratte, the director of food and nutrition at San Dimas Community Hospital.

“I am so glad we had the opportunity to educate the community on how to stay healthy and avoid long-term health complications,” Stratte said.

“Sometimes when we wait to educate people on diet once they reach the hospital, it can be too late.”

The presentation included information about plant-based diets, as well as recipes and tips on staying healthy and active.

“San Dimas Community Hospital is a great partner in building a healthy community,” said Erica Rodriguez, recreation coordinator at the San Dimas Senior/Community Center.
