FUN, FESTIVE AND SAFE INDEPENDENCE DAY 

This July 4, communities throughout the foothills region will celebrate Independence Day through the timehonored tradition of massive firework displays and day-long celebrations.

While fireworks are not permitted in a number of local communities, La Verne, Claremont, Upland and Rancho Cucamonga will host impressive aerial displays with plenty of pre-show entertainment to keep everyone entertained and safe.

In Claremont, join in on Claremont’s 66th 4th of July Celebration & Festival, a day-long event that returns this year with the theme the “Fun Fabulous Fourth.”

The day will include a flag raising ceremony, pancake breakfast and annual Freedom 5000 Run/ Walk kick-off at 7 a.m.

The morning activities will lead into a festival at Memorial Park with entertainment for all ages, including games, a climbable rock wall and inflatables. The annual parade will follow at 4 p.m.

This year’s fireworks display will be held at Pomona College on Strehle Track. Gates open at 6:30 p.m., followed by a live concert. The Fireworks Sky Show begins at 9 p.m.

In La Verne The city of La Verne has made an annual tradition of celebrating the Fourth in a big way, and this year is no exception.

The day-long celebration kicks off at 6:30 a.m. with a pancake breakfast hosted by Boy Scout Troop 411 in the Methodist Church parking lot on D Street across from Bonita High School.

Following breakfast, the pre-parade “La Verne 4th of July Patriotic Motorcycle Salute” will take place at 9:40 a.m., followed by “Star Spangled Spectacular.”

Afternoon activities include the Country Fair at Roynon Elementary School with entertainment, rides for all ages, crafts, food and more starting at 11 a.m.

Attendees can catch dinner at 5 p.m. with the annual Deep Pit BBQ. Now celebrating its 49th year, the event is hosted by the Methodist Church.

Following dinner, the fireworks display at Bonita High School Football Stadium will begin at 7 p.m.

Tickets are $7 for adults and $6 for children and will be sold at 5 p.m. at ticket booths the day of the event. Pre-sale tickets are available with $1 discount through La Verne City Hall and the La Verne Chamber of Commerce.

In Upland The city of Upland will host its 28th annual Fourth of July Fireworks Spectacular Celebration on the Fourth of July.

This year, the celebratory display will include more than 1,500 pyrotechnic shells, providing a dazzling display at the Upland High School Football Stadium.

Tickets are on sale now through the Upland Recreation Division, the Upland Public Library and Mountain View Chevrolet.

The cost for admission is $8 pre-sale and $10 the day of the event. Children 2 years and under are free.

Ticket booth and admission gates at the stadium will open at 5:30 p.m. for day-of-event ticket purchasing. The Ravelers will perform shortly after at 6 p.m.

In Rancho Cucamonga The city of Rancho Cucamonga will host its 4th of July Spectacular at LoanMart Field – formerly known as the Epicenter.

Parking lots open at 5:30 p.m., and stadium and concessions will open a half an hour later. Games and activities will kick off at 6:30 p.m., with the fireworks finale launching at 9 p.m.

Outside food or beverages, alcohol, tobacco, lawn chairs and coolers are not permitted inside the stadium.
