The Claremont Symphony Orchestra will recreate its first summer concert, which was held 60 years ago at Ganesha Park in Pomona. The family picnic and free pops concert will begin at 6:30 p.m., Sunday, July 13, at Ganesha Park, 1575 N. White Ave., Pomona, south of the Fairplex. Concert-goers are encouraged to arrive by 5:30 or 6 p.m. for a picnic – whether with food brought from home or purchased at the venue. There will also be an area where children can play with musical instruments from 6 to 6:25 p.m., courtesy of the Claremont Symphony Orchestra and Claremont Community School of Music. The concert will feature audience favorites, including medleys from “Oklahoma” and “My Fair Lady,” as well as patriotic music and light classics, conducted by CSO Music Director Robert Sage. Everyone who attends can sign up for free prize drawings. The grand prize is a get-away stay at the Claremont DoubleTree Hotel with two tickets to the Candlelight Pavilion dinner Theater. Multiple chambers of commerce have sponsored the event. For more information, call 909-596-5979 or visit www.ClaremontSO. See also
