San Dimas group plans annual HEROES golf tournament
San Dimas H.E.R.O.E.S, also known as Helping Establish a Remembrance of Every Serviceperson, will hold its fourth annual HEROES Golf Tournament on Monday, Sept. 8, at the Via Verde Country Club in San Dimas.
This year’s tournament will have a Hawaiian Island theme. Golfers are encouraged to dress in their best islander attire, and prizes will be awarded for the best dressed. Live Polynesian entertainment will also be part of the festivities.
All proceeds from the tournament will go toward the ongoing maintenance of the Veterans Monument at Freedom Park and to add smaller elements to enhance the monument.
For more information, visit the HEROES website at www.SanDimasHE- ROES.org, email SanDimasHEROESgolf@gmail. com or call the tournament hotline at (909) 542-8511.
Find a lost pet
The city’s Petfinder service is an online lost and found pet forum where residents can submit postings for lost, stolen or found pets.
Provided as a free courtesy service, Petfinder is an additional tool to help the San Dimas community reunite lost pets with their families. Petfinder is available on the city’s website and can be accessed at all times so that users can create a new post, browse through current listings, as well as contact others who have created listings for a missing or found pet.
Petfinder is easy to use.
A typical lost or found post includes a headline, photo and short description of the pet or a more detailed description of where the pet was last seen. Users will be notified when someone has responded to their post. Including a name and phone number for public view is completely optional.
Pets are important members of the family. And while Petfinder provides an additional tool to help pet owners locate lost pets, residents are still encouraged to register pets with the Inland Valley Humane Society and to contact them as soon as a pet is lost or found. It is also strongly recommended to have pets microchipped for easy identification.
