Wando International has decided to make Downtown Glendora its new home, as well as the nonprofit organization’s first location in the United States at which to raise awareness for the work it does in Uganda helping widows and orphans.

Wando International sells handmade jewelry made by Ugandan women living in extreme poverty. The jewelry is made out of colorful recycled paper, and all the proceeds will be used to support various projects to eradicate extreme poverty around the world.

Wando also offers a child advocacy program that provides Glendora residents the opportunity to become the voice for a child living in the slums of Uganda.

“We are so excited to be opening our home base in the city of Glendora,” said Michelle Muncie-Huo, chief executive officer and founder of Wando International.

“I’ve lived here all my life and I can’t wait to merge my love for my home community with that for my adopted community in Uganda. It’ll be wonderful to introduce all the babies from our orphanage and the 200 students in our school to the residents of Glendora,” she said.

“Our goal is to build a connection between the communities, and continue to do all we can to help widows and orphans both here and abroad.”

Wando International is located in the heart of downtown Glendora at 146 N. Glendora Ave., Suite 101. For more information, visit http://www.wandointernational.org.
