Claremont Educational Foundation (CEF) has awarded the David L. Rose Instrumental Music Scholarship to Sophia Lin and the Teddie Warner Community Outreach Scholarship to Chloe Amarilla and Mackenzie Orr.

Sophia was awarded $1,000 to help her continue her musical aspirations as she heads to Cal Poly Pomona to major in piano performance. Sophia started playing violin at the age of seven and piano at the age of nine.

She took part in the El Roble choir and orchestra, participated in orchestra and children’s theatre at CHS, played Claremont Youth Orchestra and currently plays second violin at the Claremont Intermezzo Orchestra.

Chloe Amarilla created Anthony’s Club in honor of her three-yearold brother who passed away from Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia. The group has raised money for Miller’s Children’s Hospital and participated in Relay for Life.

Mackenzie Orr spends her time volunteering in the ER at Pomona Valley Hospital, working with autistic children through the Son-Rise program and created the Shoes That Fit Club on the CHS organization of the same name.
