Claremont After School Programs (CLASP) recently hosted 190 guests at a Padua Hills home. The gathering celebrated to 10 years of serving Claremont elementary students through partnerships with volunteer tutors and a special recreation program.

Included were special guests Rep. Judy Chu, Rachel Barbosa, representing Supervisor Hilda Solis; Mayor Corey Calacay; Claremont School program honored CLASP former presidents Sue Smith, Lissa Petersen, Carole Harter and Teddie Warner.

CLASP president Jeanne Hamilton introduced Lydia Hernandez a Sycamore School teacher, who spoke about the welcomed support CLASP provided to students whose needs can’t be fully met in the classroom. She introduced Anne Pham, a Cal Poly graduate who received CLASP tutoring as an elementary student, and is currently a tutor, herself.
