The new Veterans’ Monument Plaza between Upland City Hall and the Upland Public Library will be the site of a Memorial Day remembrance ceremony beginning at 9 a.m. Monday, May 30. The event will include Memorial Day reflections, along with comments by Upland officials. There will also be recognition for the major donors that helped to fund the monument and remembrance wall. In addition, tiles will be available for the public to purchase for the second phase of the monument project. Four new pillars have been added at the east side of the plaza to accommodate additional engraved personalized tiles, which will be prominently displayed to salute the service of current and past military personnel. The first phase of the Upland Veterans Monument was completed and dedicated on Veterans Day, Nov. 11, 2015, featuring a 14-foot-tall pentagon black granite monument and an adjacent reflection wall honoring all service branches and personnel.
