Each year Beta Mu presents Citizenship Awards to 21 high school seniors from Bonita Unified, Claremont Unified and Pomona Unified School Districts.

The chapter has presented this program for 43 years and it is definitely a highlight for many of our members as well as for the thirteen local high schools.

The awards ceremony is held each year at Trinity United Methodist Church in Pomona where students’ guests include family, friends and school staff members who have been significant in their successes.

The award recipients are selected by school administrators, counselors and teachers for their exceptional growth during their high school years as well as for specific acts of good citizenship in their schools or communities.

Participating schools are asked to select students of outstanding character that may not be recognized by other awards. Each award recipient is given a DKG lapel pin, a citizenship certificate and a check.

“It is important to highlight those students who choose to improve their school, their community or their own lives,” said Jean Bristol, awards chairperson.
