The Cucamonga Valley Water District has recognized Los Osos High School graduate Nathaniel Thomas as one of three recipients of the Water Education Water Awareness Committee (WEWAC) Water Scholar Program.

Nathaniel was joined by his mother, Susie Thomas, and Thomas Mitchell, the assistant principal at Los Osos High School, to recognize his achievement.

The goal of WEWAC’s Water Scholar Program is to promote water awareness and to inspire students to think about what clean water means to them.

This year, 25 high school seniors within the WEWAC service area submitted essays addressing water conservation and water quality.

Nathaniel’s essay, “Water: A Critical Commodity,” led to his selection for a $500 scholarship to Washington State University.

The Water Scholar Program is one of several programs offered through WEWAC. For more information about CVWD, its educational programs and other opportunities through WEWAC, please visit www.cvwdwater.com or call (909) 987-2591.
