KTLA 5 Los Angeles will extend the station’s historic tradition of broadcasting the Tournament of Roses Parade for the 70th time Monday, as veteran crews and new hosts take position along Colorado Boulevard in Pasadena for the 128th parade.

Emmy award-winning journalists and veteran hosts, Leeza Gibbons and Mark Steines will take up for Bob Eubanks and Stephanie Edwards, who chose to step down after calling the 2016 parade - concluding an acclaimed 35-year run together that started in 1982.

The broadcast day begins at midnight with presentations of past parades, and builds excitement with backstage and countdown programming starting at 6 a.m.

The parade begins at 8 a.m., broadcast live to the world. Watch the parade on channel 5 or on KTLA’s live stream at ktla.com. For band coverage without commentary, watch Facebook.com/ktla5 Following the conclusion of the live parade, KTLA 5 will broadcast multiple encores of the 2017 Rose Parade.

Gibbons, who began her career as a news reporter, went on to host America Now, Entertainment Tonight and her talk show Leeza. Steines hosts Hallmark Channel’s Home & Family and previously spent 17 years on Entertainment Tonight.

“KTLA is thrilled to have Mark and Leeza on-board,” said KTLA President/General Manager, Don Corsini. “With a proven combination of experience, national acclaim and a true love for the Rose Parade, Mark and Leeza will honor the legacy that Bob and Stephanie leave, while bringing their own personality and professionalism.”

KTLA has been broadcasting the Rose Parade since Jan. 1, 1948, and also aired the event in 1947 as W6XYZ, an experimental station.
