The Kiwanis Club of Claremont in the fall celebrated the 93nd Installation of Officers and Directors with an awards dinner.

Elected as directors are: Tom Andersen, Mike Conley, Pat Lee, Raul Rodriguez, Barbara Rugeley, John Tarrant, and John Thompson. The Club Member of the Year Award was presented to Mike Rodriguez for his outstanding work as Treasurer.

The primary focus of the club is to serve the children of the community, by working with the Claremont Unified School District to continue projects, such as the “READ-ME” program, High School Scholarships; Best Bet in partnership with the Claremont Chamber of Commerce; Shoes that Fit; Special Olympics, and the Claremont Education Foundation.

The club sponsors student leadership training with their Kiwanis Key Clubs at both Claremont High School and San Antonio High School, and a Kiwanis Circle K Club at the Claremont Colleges.

Partnering with the City of Claremont, the club helps to present the annual summer Concerts in the Park by organizing and staffing for nine weeks the concession booth that pays for the bands. Additionally, the club assists with the Annual July Fourth Community Celebration by holding a Pancake Breakfast, and in the evening opening a concession booth at the Fireworks Show.

The Kiwanis Club of Claremont invites local residents, interested in serving their community, to visit the weekly meetings held every Thursday, at noon, at St. Ambrose Church Fellowship Hall, 830 W. Bonita Avenue, Claremont. For additional information contact Membership Chairman Jess Swick at (909) 621-2996.
