The rainy season is well underway in the Foothills, and sand is available for San Dimas residents to protect their property from moving water. The city encourages homeowners and HOA managers to check all drainage devices, such as concrete bench drains, swales, channels, and natural stream beds to ensure that they are cleared of all debris and plant overgrowth that may obstruct rainwater flow. San Dimas has a number of rolling hillside areas, and proper drainage of these hillside areas is necessary to minimize the risk of flooding, hillside erosion, and landslides. Sand piles are available for residents in the parking lot at the San Dimas City Yard, 301 South Walnut Ave. Bring a shovel and fill a few bags to keep for a rainy day. – City of San Dimas
