The goal is to raise $100,000 to help local youth to succeed in school and be prepared for a bright future. The strategy is a firstclass gala with an extensive network of business and community supporters who care about the future of the Inland Empire.

On March 9, the Board of Directors and Executive Advisory Council for Inland Empire United Way will host the 6th Annual Challenge for Children Gala. Over 550 guests are expected to be in attendance, enjoying fine wine, dinner, an impressive silent auction, and live entertainment.

In its sixth year, the event is being presented by Citrus Motors and Wells Fargo and has continued to attract repeat attendees who dine with friends, colleagues and clients year after year. However, some fresh new changes are being planned to make it even better for 2017.

This year, the Gala will be moving to the beautiful Sheraton Fairplex Conference Center. Back by popular demand, the always-entertaining Dueling Pianos of the Doubletree Hotel Claremont’s Piano Piano will be joining us for some laughs and impromptu entertainment. We also look forward to welcoming student performances from the local Pomona schools, where United Way assists students every week of the school year.

That is exactly what this event is all about. The theme is Creating New Possibilities, which is United Way’s goal for local underprivileged children, their families, and our entire community. We know that building successful students results in educated, healthy, and financially stable adults.

“I remember times as a child when family finances were tight and I received subsidized school meals,” shared John Bibeau, Vice President of CBRE in Ontario, at last year’s Gala. “Services like United Way’s Kids Pack program are truly a blessing to help kids like me to rise out of difficult situations.”

Each year, this event supports an array of programs aimed at providing a safety net for families in crisis and breaking the cycle of poverty for children in the Inland Empire. Proceeds will help to feed hungry kids, house homeless families, and equip students with the supplies and inspiration to reach future self-sufficiency.
