Board-certified dermatologist, SkinPhysicians & Surgeons in Upland

Iwrite this with a grand view of Arenal Volcano, and vivid memories of the 14 hours of travel it took for us to get here. It’s Spring Break in the Rebish household, and we are off on an adventure. We arrived at our destination, La Fortuna, Costa Rica later than expected, after leaving our home in Upland before sunrise. We arrived and drove on winding, narrow, unlit, often unpaved roads, to our destination.

And when I say winding, I mean like traveling in circles. Didn’t we just see take this turn a few minutes ago? I Watch out for that pothole! I muttered to myself, quite a few times.

We woke to a beautiful view of the volcano from our hotel room. Our week will be filled with new experiences for the kids: Rappelling, ATV rides, galloping through the mango groves on horseback, zip lining over and maybe through waterfalls.

When I was their age, my parents loved to travel and show us the world. We landed by float plane to a remote area of Alaska to fly fish for king salmon. We rode camels through the Gobi Desert in China. I snorkeled with gigantic grouper and brooding barracuda in the Belize barrier reef.

I want my kids to have similar experiences. To see that the world is so much grander, has so much more diversity than our peaceful enclave in the Inland Empire.

I will report back next month as to our adventures on this trip. I hope you all have had or will have a wonderful spring break with your families. Hasta proximo mes! See you next month!
