
The Associated Chino Teachers recently recognized teachers and staff for their dedication and effort.
Joann Bartel, head child development teacher at the Children’s Center on the Chino Valley Adult School campus in Chino, has received special recognition by the Associated Chino Teachers (ACT) for her work at the center.
She joined the Chino Valley Unified School District in 1998 at the after school E.J. Marshall Elementary School Fun Club in Chino. From 1999 to 2001, she was at the Anna Borba Elementary Fun Club in Chino. She returned to the Marshall Fun Club for the 2001-2002 school year.
She joined the Children’s Center in 2002, when it was in a small building just east of Marshall Elementary. The Center was later relocated to its present site on the Adult School campus.
Susan Ramsey, a fifth-grade teacher at Hidden Trails Elementary School in Chino Hills, has been named the 2017 Elementary Teacher of the Year by the Associated Chino Teachers.
Ateacher for 25 years, Ramsey “cares for all students and their families,” according to the
ACT. “She is always developing professionally and seeks out trainings
that will help her students in the classroom.”
She
joined the Chino Valley Unified School District in September 1995 as a
Resource Specialist Program (RSP) teacher at Newman Elementary School in
Chino, working with students who qualify for special education
services. She also taught second and third grades at Newman.
In
2002, she moved to Glenmeade Elementary School in Chino Hills and in
2013 joined Hidden Trails’ staff, and has taught third, fourth, and
fifth grades.
Ramsey retired from Chino Valley Unified School District this year.
Longtime
Townsend Junior High music teacher Anne Rutt has been named the 2017
Secondary Teacher of the Year by the Associated Chino Teachers.
Rutt,
who was formerly known as Anne Robb, joined the Chino Valley Unified
School District in 2005 as the Chino Hills school’s band teacher.
Under
her direction, Townsend’s band and drumline have won numerous major
trophies and medals, and her students have also been named to the San
Bernardino County and All-State honor bands.
Dorie Prieto, a
counselor at Chino Valley Unified School District’s Alternative
Education Center in Chino Hills, has been named the 2017 Counselor of
the Year by the Associated Chino Teachers.
She joined the District inAugust 2007 as a counselor at Chino High. She transferred to the Alternative Education Center in 2014.
Chona Wroth, a
school nurse for the Chino Valley Unified School District since 2007,
has been named the 2017 School Nurse of the Year by the Associated Chino
Teachers.
Wroth
has served as a school nurse at several sites throughout the District.
In the 2016-2017 school year, she was assigned to Country Springs
Elementary in Chino Hills; Newman Elementary and Ramona Junior High,
both in Chino.
