Hundreds of middle, high school, college students, and parents came to the University of La Verne on Oct. 14 for workshops on college preparation and career planning.

Shayla Rivera, shown in bottom photo, an aerospace engineer, former rocket scientist with NASA, and comedian served as keynote speaker for the 6th annual Latino Education Access and Development (LEAD) Conference. Rivera advocates for women in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) fields; and speaks about the importance of diversity and inclusion.
