University of La Verne Broadcast Television and honors student
Billy Ray Lopez has been selected as the 2019-2020 recipient of a scholarship presented by the Southern California Sports Broadcasters.
The award was presented at the annual Hall of Fame Banquet in January, where he was introduced by Communications Department Professor Don Pollock.
Agraduate of San Dimas High School, Lopez is a double major in Broadcast Television and Political Science.
Lopez has announced more than 50 games on LVTV, KWST and LeoFM in football, baseball, softball, basketball and soccer.
He coaches the San Dimas boys freshman basketball team and is active in the Solid Rock Church in Claremont.
In attendance at the luncheon were Professor Mike Laponis, Communications Department Operations Manager Shane Rodrigues and Radio/TV assistant Claudia Gonzalez.
University of La Verne Alumnus Rob Fukazaki was previously selected to the Southern California Sports Broadcasters Hall of Fame.
