
Eight senior students within the Chaffey Joint Union High School District were awarded with Chaffey College Trust Fund Scholarships this month.
The Chaffey Trust, established in 1882, created the scholarship program in 1967 to provide awards to outstanding students in the Chaffey District.
The eight were honored during the District’s Board of Trustees meeting on April 9.
The recipients are:
• Sacchi Grewal, Los Osos High School, the Allan G. Smith Scholarship ($1,900). Grewal plans to attend Yale University and major in mechanical engineering and economics.
• Cameron Steger, Rancho Cucamonga High School, the Mike Dirksen Scholarship ($1,800). Steger plans to attend Yale University and major in political science.
• Mary Martinez, Alta Loma High School, the Dean Smothers Scholarship ($1,700). Martinez plans to attend Stanford University and major in economics.
• Stephanie Martinez-Beltran, Chaffey
High School, the Bette Harrison Scholarship ($1,600). Martinez-Beltran
plans to attending the University of California-Riverside and major in
microbiology.
• Shasta Bowens, Etiwanda High School, the Barry W. Cadwallader Scholarship ($1,500). Bowen plans to attend UCLA and major in sociology.
• Brittney Zendejas, Colony High School, the Merton E. Hill Scholarship ($1,400). Zendejas plans to attend UCLA and major in biology.
• Juan Santos Rosas, Montclair
High School, the Gardiner W. Spring Scholarship ($1,300). Rosas plans
to attend Pitzer College and major in biochemistry and Spanish
literature.
• Noa Labajo, Ontario
High School, the Daniel B. Milliken Scholarship ($1,200). Labajo plans
to attend the University of California-Davis and major in computer
science.
