Closing its 66th Season, the Claremont Symphony Orchestra closes its 66th season 3:30 p.m. Sunday, June 9, while taking listeners from the Deep South all the way to outer space. Directed by Robert Sage, CSO
will present a poignant song by Samuel Barber depicting childhood
memories of life and death in Tennessee. Soprano soloist is Laura Sage. The free concert will conclude with Gustav Holst’s masterpiece The Planets. Bridges Hall of Music, Pomona College, 150 E. 4th Street, in Claremont.
A Remembrance Service for
Glendora Police Officer Louie Pompei will be 2 p.m. Sunday, June 9 at
the Louie Pompei Memorial, across from Via Verde Park in San Dimas.
Officer Pompei was shot and killed June 9, 1995 at a food market in Via
Verde, while attempting to stop a robbery. The public is invited to
attend.
Burt Bacharach will
perform 8 p.m. Friday, June 14 at the Lewis Family Playhouse, Victoria
Gardens. Bacharach is celebrated both as a pop culture icon and one of
the world’s greatest contemporary composers, with three Academy Awards
and eight Grammys. Among 48 Top 10 hits are What the World Needs Now Is Love, I Say a Little Prayer, Raindrops Keep Fallin’ on My Head, I’ll Never Fall In Love Again, and Walk On By. For more info, visit www.lewisfamilyplayhouse.com.
The Cooper Museum open mic will be 7 p.m. Friday, weather permitting.
