New Rancho Cucamonga Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Flora Dugbartey is bringing new ideas and energy to her role, powered by experience managing events and building relationships within business and nonprofit environments, including Scripps College and Verizon.
Born in Ghana West Africa and raised in Southern California, Dugbartey’s motto is to “make improvements not excuses.”
Dugbartey is listening to current Chamber members and businesses to create plans for strengthening the Chamber’s impact. While she intends to honor the Chamber’s service to the City and local businesses over the past 40 years, a quick conversation with her reveals her passion and excitement for new growth.
“2020 will be unique in the way we approach engagement and growth,” Dugbartey said. “With a diverse business community, we have developed an action plan that focuses on the various needs of our constituents.”
Among top priorities is expanding legislative advocacy to encourage pro-business policies that support the local economy, leadership development to strengthen members’ and prospective members’ skills to build thriving businesses, and increasing the economic sustainability of the Chamber and the local business community.
“We would like to continue to be recognized as the face and voice of businesses in Rancho Cucamonga and commit to facilitating any opportunities to protect our businesses and community,” said Dugbartey.
Brett Reichel, President of the Chamber’s Board of Directors, sees great value in creating a platform that allows businesses large and small to connect with others in the community.
“In todays fractured marketing world, what better way than connecting on a local level with neighbors and local merchants,” said Reichel. “Our members know each other and they do business with each other. They know who the mayor and city council members are because they’ve met them and interact with them at our meetings.”
