Golden West is the first community college to be certified by the California Peace Officers Standars and Training(POST).

More than 200 officers are trained each year at the center's Police Academy and Specials Investigators Academy. The Center serves about 2,500 students each year through semester courses that lead to a four-year program, and in-service training for working peace officers.

The center will include a scenario village, which will serve to train officers to make increasingly important split-second decisions.
