Golden West College has great news for students who want to complete their associate degree requirements and move on to a four-year college.

GWC students enrolled in its CSU in 2 Program are guaranteed to transfer to a California State University (CSU) as a junior in two years.

The Associate Degree for Transfer (ADT), which was signed into legislation in California in 2010, makes it possible. These degrees are designed to provide a clear pathway to a CSU baccalaureate degree. California Community College students who are awarded an AA-T or AS-T degree are guaranteed admission with junior standing somewhere in the CSU system and given priority admission consideration to their local CSU campus or to a program that is deemed similar to their community college major.

Golden West College takes the ADT to the next step by offering a two-year completion guarantee. Students in this program will receive priority registration to assure available seating in required classes.

That means students won’t have to worry about getting into the required general education classes, which tend to fill up quickly. Our guarantee also enables students and their parents to save money by enrolling in the lower division classes at Golden West College before transferring to a CSU.

To guarantee a two-year completion, students must begin “college-ready,” which means eligible for college-level math and English. Students in these cohorts are required to follow an outlined degree pattern, register for the assigned coursework each semester, and pass their classes with a minimum 2.0 GPA.At the end of the two-year program, all of the CSU general education requirements and major preparation coursework will be completed for the CSU campuses.

Golden West is leading the way in Associate Degree for Transfer majors. To date, the college offers 19 of the available 24 Associate Degree for Transfer (ADT) majors. As a result, Golden West students have many options for transferring.
