Sherry and John Miller

Broker associate John Miller, of Prudential California Realty’s Newport Beach office, was recently appointed president of the British American Business Council (BABC) in Orange County. Miller commented that, “The chance to serve as president of such a respected and distinguished organization is an honor and a responsibility that I take very seriously.”

The BABC is a nonprofit that provides members with access to practical business opportunities and high caliber networking events, as well as quality business intelligence

resulting from close ties to the British Consulate and the United Kingdom Trade and Investment offices in Los Angeles. As the world’s largest transatlantic business network organization, the BABC includes 4,000 member companies, from internationally-recognized global conglomerates and mid-market companies to professional firms, small businesses and aspiring entrepreneurs.

A specialist in Orange County real estate for the past 25 years, Miller ranks in the upper percentile of Prudential’s nationwide network of sales professionals. His discretion and business sense have earned him referrals and repeat business from many household names; his understanding of the international real estate market also enabled him to successfully represent the sellers of properties overseas, including a 14th century-era village in Tuscany, Italy, a resort hotel overlooking the Indian Ocean in Kenya, and villas and land on the Mexican Riviera.

Though born in England, Miller was raised and educated in Nairobi, Kenya, where he learned Swahili and went on his first safaris. He returned to England to study law at London University, but his legal career was interrupted by a near fatal accident in which he fell 90 feet off a scaffolding. After 10 surgeries and two years in the hospital,

he formed a vocal instrumental group with Roger Whittaker, the recording artist, and toured England and Europe playing the guitar and piano.

Africa called however, and Miller then established an African safari company. Having opened offices in London, Tunisia, and Kenya, he personally conducted 6,000 mile expeditions through 14 countries across the Sahara Desert, the rain forests of Central Africa and the game reserves of Eastern Africa. Miller often visited the U.S. to promote his safaris, and due to political upheavals in Africa, he relocated to Orange County in the 1980s. He is a member of the prestigious Explorer’s Club of New York, is a founding member of The Promotion of Tourism to Africa, (APTA), and is a member of the National and Californian Association of Realtors.

Together with his wife Sherry, a fellow Realtor and native Californian, the Millers provide first class representation for clients with residential, investment and commercial interests in the coastal and inland communities of Orange County.
