Keller Williams Realty associates took the day off recently, but it was hardly a day of rest. Associates with the Keller Williams Newport Estates chose to “Give Where They Live” as part of RED Day, one of the biggest events in the real estate industry.

Short for Renew, Energize and Donate, RED Day was created to unite Keller Williams Realty offices and associates in an international day of service.

As part of the RED Day effort, Keller Williams Newport Estates chose to spend the day with Someone Cares Soup Kitchen at 720 West 19th Street in Costa Mesa. Someone Cares Soup Kitchen’s mission is to serve a daily nutritional meal to over 300 guests per day, seven days a week. Keller Williams Newport Estates chose to work with Someone Cares Soup Kitchen to give the exterior of the building a fresh coat of paint, patch up stucco on the building and lay new concrete at the entrance. They received generous donations of materials and services from Steve Nagel of Mar Vista Construction for stucco and roof repair, James Ramos

Fourth annual RED Day lends a hand in Costa Mesa

of Expert Home Painting for exterior painting and supplies, A&A Associated Ready Mixed Concrete, Inc. for donation and delivery of concrete, Home Depot for paint and Armstrong Nursery for plants.

“This event is an entrenched part of Keller Williams Realty’s culture and displays the extraordinary effect a company can have when individuals come together to work as a team for the greater good of everyone,” said Team Leader Brock Worthen. “Last year, we worked at the Heritage House in Costa Mesa. We can’t tell you what an impact it made on each of us personally-it felt so great to give back to the community we know and love.”

During RED Day 2011, over 40,000 Keller Williams associates participated in activities ranging from food and blood drives to cleaning up trash in public parks, doing yard work for neighbors in need or revamping gardens at nursing homes totaling more than 190,000 hours of service making RED Day one of the biggest events in the real estate industry.
