Atrium gives Laguna Hills home the look and feel of a resort

This $4 million, seven-bedroom home gives new

meaning to the term “staycation.” Realtor Michael

Sayegh’s listing is the biggest home on the market in

Laguna Hills – and the most expensive. It may also

be the most relaxing.

THE LAGUNA HILLS HOME INCORPORATES AN ATRIUM FLOOR PLAN THATCREATES OPENNESS. AT THE HEARTOFTHE MAIN FLOOR IS AKOI POND WITH WATERFALLS AND NATURAL LIGHT.

Much of that has to do with the home’s atrium floor plan. Inside, you’ll find the components of a classic atrium — a central room that opens to the sky at its center. The home’s atrium follows that concept, right down to a Koi pond built into the heart of the main floor with waterfalls cascading down rocks. Sayegh explained it’s a hallow point of the home. When it rains, you can even see drops sprinkling down the middle of the room. The effect, he said, reminds him of a grand entry to a resort where visitors are enveloped by the sound of rushing water.

“I don’t believe there are many homes out there with this kind of floor plan,” he said. “It’s like a resort-style ambiance. You kind of feel you’re not in a house, you’re on vacation.”

The home follows a circular floor plan where rooms wrap around waterfalls — the main living room, master suite, an office and a guest room surround the atrium. The second story circles as well. From the upper floor, you can look down and see the water features.

Away from the atrium rests a kitchen, a library and a subterranean wine cellar. A spiral staircase curves into the wine area that offers its own sitting area. Resort-style features also extend outdoors. The surrounding land offers panoramic views, a tennis court and a gas line that sparks a bonfire pit overlooking a canyon.
