SOUTH ORANGE COUNTY

EXPERIENCE THE VALUE OF COMMUNITY IN RANCHO MISSION VIEJO

Residents of the awardwinning village of Esencia on Rancho Mission Viejo – fondly called The Ranch – live by an uplifting and heartwarming code.

Guiding Ranch caretakers years ago as they embarked on a community master plan for the iconic South Orange County ranch, the code contains principles reflecting their respect and admiration for the land -- and just as important, for all those who call it home.

“Have a kind word ready,” reads one of the code’s tenets.

“Neighbors help neighbors,” states another.

And yet a third says,“Act with courage.”

Today, residents like 14-year-old Austin Le Monte embody The Ranch Code’s affirming tenets through his character and actions. In so doing, Austin inspires everyone lucky enough to meet him.

Since a young age, Austin has bravely battled an immune deficiency that requires constant monitoring and monthly blood infusions at CHOC Children’s.

Rather than let his situation get the best of him, Austin has used it as an opportunity to demonstrate personal courage – and to raise awareness of the critical importance of blood

donations that help others facing a wide range of medical conditions.

Recently, a steady stream of neighbors and visitors lined up at Rancho Mission Viejo, waiting for their turn to donate blood during an American Red Cross community blood drive coordinated by Austin.

Atotal of 66 units of blood were collected during Austin’s drive. According to Red Cross officials, these 66 units have the potential to impact 198 lives!

Austin and his mother, Heather gave major credit for the event’s success to The Ranch’s focus on community and the importance of neighbors helping neighbors.

“People who live here

constantly ask, ‘How can I help?’” explained Ranch resident Roy Fenn-Dang, an event volunteer who also helped spread the word via social media. “There’s a lot of that kind of spirit around here, and the more spirit there is in the community, the better everybody is in the long run.”

Residents of Rancho Mission Viejo – recently honored as North America’s Best Master Planned Community – benefit from a focus on nurturing neighborliness among all ages and life stages. No other planned community in Orange County can match The Ranch’s huge offering of award-winning amenities, thoughtful programming and family-oriented activities, including workshops, classes, health and wellness programs,
