Create a gallery wall: This option showcases a group of photos close together on one wall. Though the photos may be different sizes, they’re each in the same simple frame, which creates a cohesive look. Use white mats with the photos and they’ll look even more striking. Be sure that the frame you choose can be hung vertically and horizontally.
Match the frames’ color to the rest of the room’s décor: Got a red sofa? Pick out photo frames in the same fiery hue. When you color-coordinate a photo display with other furnishings, it contributes to the room’s pulled-together look.
Go high to the ceiling and low to the floor:
Be bold and break the rule that artwork must hang at eye level. Put a group of your photos above and below that standard to make a more modern statement. It works especially well with large photos in matching frames. Best places: on the walls of a long hallways or staircase.
Convert an old glass door into a picture frame: A bit quirky but so much fun! Repurpose an old wood door that has a number of clear glass window panes. Fill each pane with a photo, and hang the door on a wall or lean it against one.
Frame photos in what’s current: Like clothing, the materials used to make photo frames go in and out of style. One material that’s hot right now is leather, specifically in dark brown. Also trending: Popular colors for frames include neutrals like black and gray.
Layer photos on a side table or desk:
There’s a trick to making a grouping work: Think in threes, which won’t look random like just one or two photos would. Since the space is small, vary the sizes of the frames and what they’re made of (wood, metal) for a mixed, more textured look.
Add photos to a bookshelf: Bookshelves aren’t just for books. They’re also the perfect place to display some of your favorite photos. Arrange each shelf so it’s a combination of framed photos, books, interesting objects, and plants.
