Dinah’s Chicken

Dinah’s Chicken was founded in 1967 by Dave Pearson after he moved to California to pursue a golf career. He befriended three businessmen at a golf course in Ojai, who had the idea to open a Dinah’s Chicken franchise.

David Pearson launched one of the restaurants with a silent partner and $15,000. He then handed it over to his parents, Harry and Mae Pearson.

“My dad worked in a mine for next to nothing,” he said. “I wanted to get him out of there, and I was able to put them into the restaurant business.”

Since 1967, the Pearson family has driven and owned Dinah’s, which has become famous for its original chicken recipe that hasn’t changed. The charming restaurant serves enjoyable home style meals, including pineapple coleslaw, mashed potatoes, and a recent addition of chicken and waffles.

David and Linda Pearson, married co-owners, say that they will do whatever it takes to keep the business running smoothly, including David’s sons helping along with both of their grandchildren. Four generations of Pearsons have now been working in and out of the restaurant for 52 years in business.

Merry Christmas from the Dinah’s Chicken Family. Stop by and enjoy $10 off on a purchase of $20 or more though December 31; one offer per customer.

We hope you gather around the table with family and friends for good conversation, laughter, and delicious food.
