Well it’s hard to believe that it has been some 26 years since I started my first coffee shop, back in 1993!

I was 31 years old with two small children (what was I thinking!) and boy … did I have a lot to learn. As the old saying goes – If f I only knew then what I know now!

A lot of things have changed in this business since then. Technology and social media, to start, and it can be a little harder for the little guys in this business to keep up sometimes.

Having been a fixture in our neighborhood for so long (thanks to you), perhaps we might be thought of as the little guy anymore. But we are still very much the Mom-and-Pop shop of those days (well, Mom anyway…) Romancing the bean was the first on the scene this neighborhood, even before Portos.

Sometimes I long for those days when it was just me behind the counter, serving my regulars and chatting about life. It really was a special time – and maybe not only for us, because many of our customers remain with us, loyal and true to the Bean.

We thank you all so much for your loyalty, and we love you back, and we look forward to pouring for you for years to come.
