The 125 largest law firms with offices in Los Angeles County employ more than 9,000 attorneys in local offices. That includes 3,780 partners, plus associates, counsel and other staff attorneys.
Firms handle litigation and transactional work across a diverse range of industries spanning entertainment, finance, aerospace, media and others. The two largest firms have roots in Los Angeles. Gibson Dunn & Crutcher LLP, the largest firm with 317 local attorneys between offices in Century City and DTLA, was founded in Los Angeles in 1890, but does not recognize an official headquarters location as an international firm. It has more than 2,000 attorneys in 21 offices worldwide. Los Angeles-based Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton LLP, which has offices in Century City and DTLA, is the only other firm with more than 300 attorneys in Los Angeles.
There are a total of 166 offices for the firms listed because some firms have multiple offices. Firms with dual locations tend to handle more entertainment work in Century City while downtown firms may handle more litigation.
