For fall, Escapes. Travel. Adventure. magazine has found itself famished. Within these pages, you’ll find foodie destinations far and wide, from down the literal street in Southern California’s proverbial big backyard to as far as Fiji to chase the perfect mango.

Foodie travel is bigger than ever: A recent survey by luxury travel network Virtuoso suggests that 70% of travelers keep dining in mind when deciding a destination, and 20% are traveling specifically for food and drink.

In a food-rich city like L.A., we have access to so much culinary variety it may seem counterintuitive to travel for food – that is, until you’ve had the first bite of a pasta in Italy with shaved white truffle, or a sip of Vermentino in Sonoma, or a savory bite of aged bone-in filet mignon in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Once you’re satiated, don’t forget you’re on an amazing planet: Get lost in Yerevan’s art and culture (page 28), or set sail to Alaska’s Inside Passage (page 30) or head straight to the Galapagos Islands (page 40). Also, it’s never too early to plan that winter ski trip (page 36)!

So raise a glass – or fork – to all things foodie, and enjoy the journey, the destination and all the meals in-between.
