San Antonio Community Hospital has announced the development of a medical office complex in the city of Eastvale.

The 70,000-square-foot complex will include the first medical office building in the growing, newly incorporated city of Eastvale. It is being developed by Strategic Medical Properties, and is expected to open in late 2014.

“People in the city are excited that San Antonio Community Hospital is bringing key medical services to our region,” said Eastvale Mayor Ike Bootsma. “Residents of Eastvale will have access to the high quality care and excellent services for which San Antonio Community Hospital is known across the region, and the project will offer new job opportunities for medical professionals who live in our area.”

The hospital’s new satellite facility, Eastvale San Antonio Medical Plaza, will be located in Lewis Retail Center’s Eastvale Gateway South Shopping Center. The location is particularly well-positioned to allow the hospital to expand its nationally recognized health care services to meet the needs of Eastvale residents and the growing communities across the southeast region of California’s Inland Empire.

San Antonio Community Hospital has purchased 5.4 acres on Limonite Avenue just west of Interstate 15.

The complex will include two buildings to be developed in separate phases. Phase I will consist of a 40,000-squarefoot medical office building that will include a combination of outpatient diagnostic services and primary and specialty care physician offices. The total project cost for Phase I is anticipated to be approximately $15 million.

San Antonio Community Hospital’s main campus in Upland has been serving residents of the Inland Empire for the last 106 years, and its satellite facilities in Rancho Cucamonga and Fontana offer diagnostic services and physician offices similar to those planned for Eastvale.

“We are pleased to extend our award-winning care to Eastvale, South Ontario, Norco and the surrounding communities,” said Harris F. Koenig, president and chief executive officer. “In addition, we are pleased to bring up to 100 new jobs to the area that will include health care and support positions that will staff the health care services to be offered at Eastvale San Antonio Medical Plaza.”

Randall W. Lewis, executive vice president of Lewis Retail Centers, called the development “exciting news for the Eastvale area.”

“San Antonio Com munity Hospital has a long history within the region for providing quality health care,” he said.

“They have a communityoriented, forward-thinking approach to medical services that will make them an excellent hospital, business and community partner.”

San Antonio Community Hospital purchased the land from Lewis Retail Centers, the developer and manager of both Eastvale Gateway South and the adjacent Eastvale Gateway shopping center that combined total more than 1 million square feet of retail, services and dining.
