POMONA VALLEY HOSPITAL MEDICAL CENTER WINS $15,000 NATIONAL PINK GLOVE DANCE FOR BREAST CANCER EDUCATION, PREVENTION 

Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center recently won the Medline Fourth Annual National Pink Glove Dance, breast cancer education and prevention.

The campaign unites clinicians, survivors and communities to celebrate hope for a cure and honor all who have been affected by breast cancer in a fun and memorable way through the joy of dance.

Thanks to receiving 81,445 online votes (out of nearly 430,000 total votes cast) for its video, Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center will receive a $15,000 donation from Medline to the hospital’s breast cancer charity of choice, the Susan G. Komen The hospital also raised more than $2,000 for Susan

G. Komen Foundation as part of its participation in the competition.

“We are honored to be named this year’s Medline Pink Glove Dance video competition winner,” said Richard E. Yochum, president “The competition was a great way for us to involve all of our associates and the entire community in breast cancer awareness.”

Determined by public online voting over a twoweek period, the hospital’s 90-second winning video had viewers wondering what was in the pink mystery box being handled by hospital physicians, staff and cancer survivors.

The reveal came at the end of the video, when breast cancer survivor Jenna Erin Murray opened the pink box and the words that exemplify the spirit of Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center cancer treatment patients were set free.

The video also featured more than 500 staff and community members, including breast cancer survivors, health care workers and La Verne pink gloves to Pharrell Williams’ “Happy.”

Sponsored by Medline — maker of pink exam gloves — the national competition included video submissions from hospitals, nursing homes, schools and other organizations spanning 30 states.

Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center captured the grand prize for having the most overall votes in the Medline Pink Glove Dance competition, as well as win- System category.
