The Cultural Arts Society of La Verne and The Gallery at Hillcrest are presenting a special showing of “The Artistic Works of John Edward Svenson, Sculptor,” through Dec. 19.

John Svenson, a fellow of the prestigious National Sculpture Society, has an illustrious career spanning nearly 70 years. A native of Southern California, he studied art at Claremont Graduate School and worked alongside other famous local artists, including sculptor Albert Stewart and artist/designer Millard Sheets.

Svenson’s works range in size and medium, from huge redwood sculptures to beautiful fountains to medallions commissioned by international heads of state.

His pieces can be found gracing public buildings, schools, banks, parks and museums across the United States and overseas. And more than a dozen of his sculptures are on view during the exhibition.

Admission is free. The Gallery at Hillcrest is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, at 2705 Mt. View Drive, La Verne. For more information, call 909-593-4917.
