The La Verne Historical Society will sponsor a tour of the Harvey Hanawalt, and Frank and Rilla Seymour, houses from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Saturday, Oct. 22.

The Harvey Hanawalt House is located at 2610 Bonita Ave.

Built in 1906, it is a classic craftsman with rock pillars and a circular driveway, located on two city lots.

The Hanawalts were an early family in La Verne and participated in building many local structures, including the La Verne Church of the Brethren. The Brethren established the original Lordsburg College that is now the University of La Verne.

The Seymour House was built in 1922 and is located at 2633 Third St. in La Verne. The Seymour House has recently been lovingly restored to its original craftsman style by Kevin and Diane Meade, owners of the Harvey Hanawalt House.

The Meades will discuss their restoration efforts and the colorful lives of the persons who inhabited these homes.

Docent-led tours will be followed by refreshments.

The tour costs $15, and includes membership in the La Verne Historical Society and a ticket for hourly raffles.
