The City of San Dimas and the San Dimas Parks and Recreation Commission are accepting nominations for Distinguished Service to Youth Awards.

The purpose of the awards, which have been given annually since 1976, is to recognize and honor people in the community who have demonstrated exceptional service to San Dimas youth and to create an awareness of the need for citizens to become involved in youth programs.

The Volunteer Service to Youth Award (the J. Michael Dutton Memorial Service Award) is presented to individuals who have rendered outstanding service to the youth of San Dimas as unpaid volunteers.

The Professional Service to Youth Award is presented to individuals who, while serving in a paid status as part of employment, have rendered outstanding service to the young people of San Dimas.

The Group Award is presented to groups or organizations, either volunteer or professional, which have rendered outstanding service to San Dimas youth.

All nominees meeting the criteria will be recognized before the San Dimas City Council at the regular meeting April 11.

The deadline to submit nominations for Distinguished Service to Youth Awards is 4 p.m. Friday, March 3. For further information, call the Parks and Recreation Department at 909 394-6230.
