President, Hope Through Housing Foundation

On a recent Saturday evening, the Rancho Cucamonga Community and Arts Foundation recognized three supporters for their dedication to the mission of the Foundation. The awardees were honored at a reception held prior to a Foundation-sponsored performance at the Lewis Family Playhouse featuring Blue Collar Comedy veteran, Bill Engvall.

The Foundation’s mission is to enrich lives through support of arts programming at the Victoria Gardens Cultural Center. The group is dedicated to increasing exposure to the arts for both children and adults, inspiring philanthropy, sparking the imagination, and fostering community pride.

The award reception opened with Foundation Chair, Paula Pachon, recognizing National Community Renaissance, also known as National CORE.

Rancho Cucamonga-based National CORE is one of the nation’s largest builders and operators of high-quality, multi-unit housing for low-income families and seniors. National CORE was recognized for its support of the Lewis Family Playhouse and the Rancho Cucamonga community in general, where the organization manages eight apartment communities.

Linda Bryan, a founding board member, and her husband Peter, a former Rancho Cucamonga Fire Chief, were honored for their long-time support of the arts. The couple has served as dedicated volunteers and donors, benefiting the Ranch Cucamonga Community Theatre and Broadway at the Gardens.

Clearly, wine and the arts go together.

As such, The Wine Tailor was recognized for their many years of generous support for the Foundation. According to Cultural Arts Manager, Susan Sluka-Kelly, “The Wine Tailor has saved the Playhouse insurmountable funds through donations of wine, gift baskets, and gift cards since the Playhouse’s beginnings in 2006.”

In attendance and demonstrating their support for the Foundation were Rancho Cucamonga Mayor Pro Tem Lynne Kennedy, City Manager John Gillison, Al Arguello of Bank of America, Randall Lewis of the Lewis Companies, and many other community leaders and supporters.

As a resident and parent of two daughters who have both performed on the stage of the Lewis Family Playhouse and benefited from the arts, I commend the Foundation for providing a highcaliber performing arts venue for the Foothills Region.
