Thursday, June 21 Willie White Park The Willie White Park Focus Group (WWPFG) Neighborhood Watch will host its 15th Annual Juneteenth Celebration of Freedom, 6:45 p.m. to 9:15 p.m. Thursday, June 21 at the Willie White Park & Community Center, Pomona.
Juneteenth (June 19) marks the date slaves living in Texas learned of their freedom in 1865.
The Juneteenth Celebration of Freedom Feast will offer Southern cuisine, followed by a presentation by long-time Pomona Valley resident Christina Frausto, whose studies were focused on the Underground Railroad. Her talk will bring to life the struggles and challenges faced by African Americans desiring freedom and selfsustaining lives.

The
EWI’s Fourth Annual Women’s Conference, June 22 at the Claremont
DoubleTree Hotel, is a one-day event with leading, nationally-known
speakers and thought leaders.
The event is designed to inspire and connect empowering women who are making a positive difference in our community.
All
proceeds from the event will go directly to EWI’s ASIST Scholarship
Fund, with awarda to women in transition to help further their
educational goals as they work to create a better life for themselves
and for their families.

June 18: Show Band Ontario Chaffey Community Show Band will
present “Hollywood Hits,” 7:30 p.m. Monday, June 18 in Merton Hill
Auditorium on the campus of Chaffey High School in Ontario.
Admission to the concert is free and arrive a little early for a free cup of Starbucks coffee.
The
concert repertoire will include melodies from of some of Hollywood’s
most memorable films. The performance features vocalist Brian Detwiler, a
familiar solo artist on Show Band concerts, Show Band trumpeter King
Dalton, Concertmaster Chris McAleer, dancer Kathy Soderlund, and the
outstanding musicians of the Ontario Chaffey Community Show Band.
