The Ontario Chaffey Community Show Band and the City of Ontario will present “Summer Time with the Show Band,” the opening concert of the 2019-2020 season, 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 14, at Ontario Town Square.

The concert will include a collection of popular songs and marches featuring a group of talented soloists and the outstanding musicians of the Ontario Chaffey Community Show Band.

The concert will begin with “Amparito Roca” a famous march written by Spanish composer Jaime Teixidor. Saxophone soloist Francisco Mowatt will perform “Born Free” the title song from the 1966 movie.

Talented trumpeter Aaron Holguin is featured on the beautiful ballad “Afternoon in August.” Concert goers will be in for an exciting treat with two Elvis Presley hits “Hound Dog” and “Heartbreak Hotel” performed by Show Band euphonium player and vocalist Tom “Elvis” Hill.

Assistant Director and saxophonist Pat Arnold will be highlighted on “This Magic Moment,” a hit recorded by The Drifters, and a special arrangement of “Love Dance.”

Special guest artist Peter Schultz has had a forty-year career performing in films, commercials, community theatre and off-Broadway productions. He will sing two popular songs “I Wish You Love” and “One for My Baby.”

The Ontario Chaffey Community Show Band was founded in 1985 by R. Jack Mercer and is now under the direction of Dr. Gabe Petrocelli and assistant directors David Schaafsma and Pat Arnold. Band members represent at least two dozen communities throughout Southern California.
