The California Retired Teachers Association, Pomona Valley Division 13, will offer Teacher Grants for the classroom of up to $200.
Superintendents in 10 local school districts will be contacted in September and asked to make this opportunity available to their teachers.
Last year, CalRTA Division 13 gave out 30 teacher grants, from $50 to $200, that were used to purchase books and science equipment, games and flexible seating, Magnatiles and Osmo Genius kits and kindergarten building sets.
CalRTA supports
public education by working with 10 school districts –Azusa, Bonita,
Charter Oak, Claremont, Covina, Glendora, Hacienda/La Puente, Pomona,
Walnut, and West Covina.
“We may be retired, but we remember what it was like to have a need or a desire to help our students progress,” said Robbie Cendejas, CalRTA
spokesperson. “We are happy to be able to fulfill the wishes of those
who are still giving their time and resources to their students.”
Interested
teachers can fill out the application, which is returned to the
chairman of the Grant Committee. The committee meets to read each grant,
as many as 175 to 200 each year, and to choose the ones that sound like
they would benefit the most students.
