Ontario International Airport (ONT) is prepared to meet the demand for customers with Lyft, online pre-book parking and free shuttles provided by Omnitrans. The assurance came as TNC Uber Technologies Inc. announced it intended to stop serving ONT effective Sept. 13, in a dispute over trip fees. “We are confident we have plenty of capacity to accommodate all ONT customers wishing to use a ridesharing service to be dropped off and picked up curbside at our airport,” said ONT CEO Mark Thorpe. “Customers who do not already have the Lyft mobile app installed on their mobile devices are urged to download it now so they are ready to ride.” Uber announced plans to stop serving Ontario airport following a $1 increase in the fee for each pick-up and drop-off. The higher fee went into effect July 1. In August, Uber notified the Ontario officials of the decision to stop its Ontario airport operations. More than five million air passengers flew through Ontario airport last year. The airport, which was recently honored by a travel industry publication as the nation’s best alternative airport, has welcomed more than three million domestic and international travelers through July this year.
