See them and learn Wednesday: Wild Wings and Claremont Garden Club
Claremont Garden Club presents a program with Wild Wings, San Dimas-based organization dedicated to rescuing and rehabilitating native California birds, 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 9 at the Napier Building, 660 Avery Road in Pilgrim Place, Claremont.
The program includes some of the birds under the care of Wild Wings of California, a nonprofit organization established for the purpose of providing specialized care for orphaned, injured and sick wild native birds. It is the purpose of this ongoing effort to return these birds to their natural environment.
Some of the Wild Wings rescues are too seriously injured to be released back into the wild, and many of these are included in programs to help the public understand the biology and environmental importance of birds of prey.
A team of wildlife rehabilitators, biologists, medical professionals, and community volunteers work in tandem to accomplish this goal.
Wild Wings of California has permits issued by the state Dept. of Fish and Game and by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service for the purpose of wildlife rehabilitation and public education.
Refreshments will be served Wednesday at 6:30 p.m., with talk at 7 p.m. Meetings are open to everyone interested in any type of gardening. For more information about the club, see the calendar at www.claremontgardenclub.org or email info@claremontgardenclub.org.
