   Assistance League of the Foothill Communities continues the philanthropic Operation School Bell, which provides new school clothes for over 2,000 students in need, grades TK through high school, for the start of the school year. Assistance League provides each designated student a stipend for Kohls’ of Upland to shop for appropriate school clothing. The students are also given a hygiene kit and a selected book of their choice. Serving eight school districts in the west end of San Bernardino County, Operation School Bell schedules dressings August through February. “New clothes
build self-esteem which improves attendance and grades. We just want
every child to start off the new school year on the right foot,” says Kelly Bocanegra, President
of Assistance League of the Foothill Communities, “Plus, our volunteers
love interacting with the kids and it’s the favorite event of the year
for many of our members.” Assistance

children and young adults through community programs in the west end of
