In 1932, during the Great Depression, the Festival of Arts of Laguna Beach was founded as way to help struggling artists. Fast-forward 85 years: the Festival continues to develop full and enriching art opportunities and experiences for Orange County and beyond. Its mission is to promote, produce and sponsor events and activities that encourage the appreciation, study and performance of the arts. This non-profit organization is world famous for its summer events, the Festival’s Fine Art Show and the Pageant of the Masters, and it remains steadfast in its commitment to ensuring the opportunity for everyone to enjoy the arts. In addition to its main events, the Festival of Arts is dedicated to encouraging children and young adults in the appreciation and pursuit of the arts though its scholarship and education programs. In 1957, the Festival established the Arts Scholarship program. Since then, it has helped thousands of aspiring artists pursue their educational goals in the arts. Scholarships are awarded in the categories of film, performing arts, visual arts, and writing. Many students have indicated that they would not have been able to follow their passion and a career in the arts without this funding. Some of the recipients are now cinematic artists, photojournalists, and fashion designers. Art workshops are held free of charge throughout the summer season at the Festival of Arts, in printmaking, ceramics and many other disciplines. Special art programs are also developed with the Boys and Girls Club, the Pacific Symphony and other local organizations. To encourage and recognize achievement in the arts, the Festival also hosts a Junior Art Exhibit, which showcases the work of more than 300 Orange County students from pre- kindergarten to 12th grade. You are invited to help nurture a new generation of artists by donating to the Festival’s scholarship and education programs. To learn more, visit LagunaFestivalofArts.org or call (949) 494-1145.
